Marsha's Bio

Marsha and the Positrons specialize in fun songs about science and how the world works with positive social messages, and feature Ayanna Gallant, Jon Guo, and David Durst!  Marsha Goodman-Wood leads the DC-based kindie band, and is a former cognitive neuroscientist, as well as an award-winning songwriter, known for her clever original songs mixing science facts with messages about kindness and friendship. Her music has won a Parents’ Choice Foundation Gold Award, a National Parenting Products Award, and various songwriting awards. Marsha and the Positrons songs are playful, educational, and entertaining for kids and grown-ups!


Marsha is also a teaching artist with Arts for Learning Maryland and Wolf Trap Maryland and has taught various music classes for babies and toddlers, as well as music and drama for preschool and elementary students. She loves singing jazz & blues standards, has written and directed two musicals for preschool and elementary students, and sometimes draws on her neuroscience training giving talks on music and the brain. Marsha always brings positive energy and playfulness to the stage and classroom, and loves to inspire curiosity about science through her music!
